Summary

This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Office of the Chief Security Officer (OCSO), Center for International Safety and Security (CISS).

The primary purpose of this position is to direct/oversee the work effort of security specialists staff and assist the deputy division chief in preparing, formulating, developing, reviewing and implementing security policies, standards and procedures for physical security.

Non-BU: This is a non-bargaining unit position.

Help

As a Supervisory Physical Security Specialist, GS-0080-14, your typical work assignments may include:

  • Plans and schedules work, makes assignments to subordinates based on priorities, consideration of the difficulty, the requirements of the work, and the capabilities of the employees.
  • Serves as an expert concerning the Technical Surveillance Countermeasures (TSCM) Program directing technical support services for the protection of classified information as directed by the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI).
  • Participates directly with Technical Investigative Operations.
  • Supervises the conduct of security surveys, inspections and compliance reviews of offices within the agency's mission, field offices and other sites to be safeguarded, in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and presidential directives.

Qualifications

You qualify for the GS-14 grade level if you possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the federal government, performing duties such as:

  • Organizing, planning, directing, controlling, coordinating and supervising staff.
  • Reviewing work for content and compliance with office, department, and government-wide policies, regulations and procedures. Planning and scheduling work, making assignments to subordinates based on priorities, consideration of the difficulty, the requirements of the work, and the capabilities of the employees.
  • Serving as an authoritative source and subject matter expert on all matters pertaining to technical counter surveillance operations in support of counterintelligence.
  • Providing expert knowledge concerning the Technical Surveillance Countermeasures (TSCM) Program, directing technical support services for the protection of classified information as directed by the Director of National Intelligence (DNI).
Substitution of education in lieu of specialized experience may not be used for this grade level
